What I Watched This Week (10)

 Perfect Blue

Perfect Blue is the story of Mima, a pop Idol, who quits her group CHAM in order to pursue a career in acting. After quitting, she begins to become overwhelmed by the demands of the acting industry and a fan who stalks her. Throughout the film, Mima's mental state deteriorates until she can't tell the difference between reality and fiction.

This film is great. It uses color in a very interesting way making the film both beautiful and very surreal. The story definitely captures your interest as there is a lot of suspense and intensity. It's at times very hard to watch because it deals with some very intense subject material but is all the better for it.

9/10

  1. This movie is very cool. It is very eerie at times though it has a very colorful art-style. Fun fact: the bathtub scene inspired an almost identical scene in the American live action film "Requiem for a Dream". I recommend checking that out if you haven't heard of it.
